Abstract
An electrical connector includes a housing with at least one slot for holding a connector module, and a lever with a crossbar and sidebars. A pair of first gear wheel elements are formed at the ends of the sidebars and rotate around first rotation pins on the housing. Each first gear wheel element has a first set of gear teeth for meshing with a toothed rack of a counter connector, and a second set of gear teeth for meshing with second gear wheel elements. This configuration enables efficient and secure connection of the electrical connector to a counter connector, with improved mechanical advantage and reduced user input force required for mating and un-mating.

An electrical connector, comprising:
- a connector housing configured to hold at least one electrical contact;
- a lever having a crossbar and two sidebars extending from ends of the crossbar;
- a pair of first gear wheel elements, each first gear wheel element formed at an end of the respective sidebars, the first gear wheel elements and the lever being rotatably mounted to lateral side walls of the connector housing;
- and
- a pair of second gear wheel elements rotatably mounted to the lateral side walls of the connector housing, wherein the first gear wheel elements each comprise gear teeth for meshing with a first toothed rack of a counter electrical connector and for meshing with the second gear wheel elements, wherein the second gear wheel elements mesh with and are driven by the first gear wheel elements as the lever is rotated.
