Abstract
A dry bag cover is disclosed for enclosing and protecting equipment in harsh environments. The dry bag cover includes panels joined to form an internal cavity with an opening and a waterproof closure mechanism. Integrated attachment features and reinforced handle regions enable equipment mounting and carrying. An evacuation valve allows air to be expelled and a vacuum-rigidized retaining insert is included to stabilize and protect contents within the dry bag cover.
Claims20
A dry bag cover, comprising:
- a front body panel and a back body panel formed from a waterproof material and joined along a perimeter to define an interior volume, with an opening disposed along one side of the perimeter to create an access opening;
- the access opening including at least one flexible stay attached to the access opening, wherein the at least one flexible stay is configured to bias the access opening toward a closed configuration while permitting manual opening;
- a closure system attached to the access opening, wherein the closure system includes at least one fastener operable to retain the access opening in a rolled and sealed condition;
- at least one attachment structure attached to the front body panel and configured to receive the at least one fastener;
- at least one second attachment structure secured to the front body panel and configured to receive external equipment;
- a plurality of reinforced handle cutouts formed along at least two opposing edges of the dry bag cover, wherein each of the plurality of reinforced handle cutouts includes a reinforced gripping region integrally formed from the waterproof material;
- and
- at least one evacuation valve extending through the front body panel or the back body panel, the at least one evacuation valve comprising a valve body attached to the waterproof material and a check element disposed within or attached to the valve body.

A dry bag cover system, comprising:
- a dry bag cover including:
- a front body panel and a back body panel formed from a waterproof material and joined along a perimeter to define an interior volume, with an opening disposed along one side of the perimeter to create an access opening;
- the access opening including at least one flexible stay attached to the access opening, wherein the at least one flexible stay is configured to bias the access opening toward a closed configuration while permitting manual opening;
- a closure system attached to the access opening, wherein the closure system includes at least one fastener operable to retain the access opening in a closed position;
- at least one attachment structure attached to the front body panel of the dry bag cover and configured to receive the at least one fastener;
- and
- at least one evacuation valve extending through the front body panel or the back body panel, the at least one evacuation valve comprising a valve body attached to the waterproof material and a check element disposed within or attached to the valve body;
- and
- a retaining element including:
- a flexible bag;
- a plurality of packaging elements within the flexible bag;
- and
- at least one air valve attached to the flexible bag configured to connect to a vacuum pump;
- wherein the vacuum pump is operable to remove air from the flexible bag;
- and
- wherein the dry bag cover is configured to receive and enclose the retaining element within the interior volume while maintaining a waterproof or substantially waterproof barrier between the interior volume and an external environment.
