Abstract
A recombinant non-naturally occurring methylotrophic microorganism, which grows on reduced one-carbon (C1) compounds as sole carbon source. The recombinant microorganism expresses or over-expresses a polypeptide having methanol dehydrogenase activity, a polypeptide having 3-hexulose-6-phosphate synthase activity, and polypeptide having a 6-phospho 3-hexuloisomerase activity, and does not comprise, and/or comprises deletions or reductions of expression of, or eliminations or reductions of activity of a polypeptide having triose-phosphate-isomerase activity, and of a polypeptide having glutathione-dependent formaldehyde dehydrogenase activity.

A recombinant non-naturally occurring methylotrophic microorganism,
- which expresses or over-expresses a polypeptide having methanol dehydrogenase activity, a polypeptide having 3-hexulose-6-phosphate synthase (Hps) activity, and polypeptide having a 6-phospho 3-hexuloisomerase (Phi) activity, and
- which does not comprise, or which comprises deletions or reductions of expression of, or eliminations or reductions of activity of a polypeptide having triose-phosphate-isomerase activity and of a polypeptide having glutathione-dependent formaldehyde dehydrogenase activity,
- wherein the recombinant non-naturally occurring methylotrophic microorganism grows on one carbon (C1) compounds as sole carbon source, with at least 50% of the carbon source consisting of one or more reduced C1 carbon compounds.
