Abstract
A food container and methods of making the same are disclosed. Example food containers may include a tray defining a volume for receiving a food item, and a lid configured to enclose the volume of the tray along a liquid-proof interface between the lid and the tray. The tray may include a plurality of tray panels formed of a first material, and a tray skeleton structure joining adjacent edges of the panels to form one or more corners. The lid may include one or more lid panels formed of the first material, and a lid skeleton structure forming a perimeter of the lid. The skeleton structures of the tray and the lid may be formed of a second material different from the first material.
Claims20
A food container, comprising:
- a tray defining a volume for receiving a food item, the tray including:
- a plurality of tray panels formed of a first material;
- and
- a tray skeleton structure joining adjacent edges of the panels to form one or more corners, the skeleton structure formed of a second material different from the first material;
- and
- a lid configured to enclose the volume of the tray along a liquid-proof interface between the lid and tray, the lid including:
- one or more lid panels formed of the first material;
- and
- a lid skeleton structure forming a perimeter of the lid, the lid skeleton structure formed of a second material different from the first material.
A food container, comprising:
- a tray defining a volume for receiving a food item, the tray including:
- four tray panels formed of a first material;
- and
- a tray skeleton structure joining adjacent edges of the panels to form four corners, the skeleton structure formed of a second material different from the first material;
- and
- a lid configured to enclose the volume of the tray along a liquid-proof interface between the lid and tray, the lid including:
- one or more lid panels formed of the first material;
- and
- a lid skeleton structure forming a perimeter of the lid, the lid skeleton structure formed of a second material different from the first material, the lid skeleton structure defining four corners corresponding to the four corners of the tray.
A method of making a food container, comprising:
- forming a tray defining a volume for receiving a food item, including:
- providing a plurality of tray panels;
- and
- joining adjacent edges of the plurality of tray panels with a tray skeleton structure to form one or more tray corners;
- and
- forming a lid configured to enclose the volume of the tray along a liquid-proof interface between the lid and tray, including:
- providing one or more lid panels;
- and
- adhering edges of the one or more lid panels to a lid skeleton structure to form one or more lid corners;
- wherein the tray panels and the one or more lid panels are each formed of a fibrous material, and wherein the tray skeleton structure and the lid skeleton structure are each formed of a resin material.
