Abstract
A substrate includes a mark that exhibits an enhanced moiré effect. In some embodiments, the mark includes: a checkered pattern comprising a first set of cells to be printed with a first color and a second set of cells to be printed with a second color; a first set of broken parallel lines of a third color to be printed along edges of the first set of cells and/or the second set of cells; and a set of frame elements of a fourth color, wherein each frame element is positioned to frame one of the two sets of cells.
Claims19
A method of printing a mark on a substrate, the method comprising:
- by a processor, generating a pattern mark having a security effect to be printed within a boundary on a substrate by:
- generating a checkered pattern comprising a first set of cells to be printed with color C1 and a second set of cells to be printed with color C2,
- generating a first set L1 of broken parallel lines of color C3 to be printed along edges of the first set of cells and/or the second set of cells,
- generating a set of frame elements of color C4, wherein each frame element will be positioned to frame one of the two sets of cells, and
- rendering the pattern mark to include the checkered pattern, the broken parallel lines, and the frame elements, and
- by a print engine, printing the pattern mark in the boundary on the substrate, wherein the pattern mark exhibits an enhanced moiré effect when displayed.
A substrate comprising a pattern mark, the pattern mark comprising:
- a checkered pattern comprising a first set of cells of color C1 and a second set of cells of color C2;
- a first set L1 of broken parallel lines of color C3 positioned along edges of the first set of cells and/or the second set of cells;
- and
- a set of frame elements of color C4, wherein each frame element is positioned to frame one of the two sets of cells,
- wherein the pattern mark causes the substrate to exhibit an enhanced moiré effect.
A computer program product comprising a non-transitory memory device that stores programming instructions that are configured to,
- when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
- generate a pattern mark having a security effect to be printed within a boundary on a substrate by:
- generating a checkered pattern comprising a first set of cells to be printed with color C1 and a second set of cells to be printed with color C2,
- generating a first set L1 of broken parallel lines of color C3 to be printed along edges of the first set of cells and/or the second set of cells,
- generating a set of frame elements of color C4, wherein each frame element will be positioned to frame one of the two sets of cells, and
- rendering the pattern mark to include the checkered pattern, the broken parallel lines, and the frame elements;
- and
- cause a print engine to print the pattern mark in the boundary on the substrate,
- wherein the pattern mark will exhibit an enhanced moiré effect when displayed.
