Abstract
Stone slabs, and systems and methods of forming slabs, are described. Some example slabs include a pattern defined by a particulate mineral mix. The pattern includes one or more characteristics that differ from other regions of the slab where the pattern is not present.
Claims21
1-20. (canceled)
A processed slab comprising:
- a slab width that is at least 2 feet;
- a slab length that extends perpendicular to the slab width and that is at least 6 feet, the slab length and the slab width defining a top major surface;
- and
- a vein pattern at least partially exposed on the top major surface, wherein the vein pattern includes at least one portion defined by the sum of a first measured graininess, a first measured sparkle index, and a first measured sparkle amount as a vein sparkle sum of about 50 or greater.

A processed slab comprising:
- a slab width that is at least 2 feet;
- a slab length that extends perpendicular to the slab width and that is at least 6 feet, the slab length and the slab width defining a top major surface;
- and
- a first particulate portion and a second particulate portion,
- wherein the first and second particulate portions define the top major surface of the slab,
- wherein the first particulate portion defines a vein pattern within at least a portion of the top major surface, and
- wherein the vein pattern has a first measured gloss of greater than about 80.

A processed slab comprising:
- a slab width that is at least 2 feet;
- a slab length that extends perpendicular to the slab width and that is at least 6 feet, the slab length and the slab width defining a top major surface;
- and
- a slab composition including a first particulate portion comprising a metal material and a second particulate portion comprising quartz or another filler, the first particulate portion including a first sparkle sum as measured by a gloss meter at about a 15-degree angle as the sum of a first graininess (S_G_1), a first sparkle index (S_i_1), and a first sparkle amount (S_a_1), the second particulate portion including a second sparkle sum as measured by the gloss meter as the sum of a second graininess (S_G_2), a second sparkle index (S_i_2), and a second sparkle amount (S_a_2), wherein the first sparkle sum is greater than the second sparkle sum,
- wherein the first and second particulate portions define the top major surface of the slab, and
- wherein the first particulate portion defines one or more vein patterns within at least a portion of the top major surface.
