Abstract
The present invention relates to chromatography beads, production and use thereof. More closely the invention relates to small, rigid and non-permeable agarose beads suitable for example as stationary phase in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for analyses of biomolecules, such as, peptides and proteins; and methods for producing such beads.
Claims8
A method for production of solid agarose beads, comprising the following steps:
- providing agarose beads having a diameter of 5-50 μm in a solution having an agarose concentration of 8-20% (w/w) in water;
- emulsifying said agarose beads in said solution and heating said solution to solidify the agarose beads;
- cross-linking of said beads at least once after emulsification;
- activating to shrink and fill in remaining pores in said agarose beads.
