Abstract
A method is disclosed, comprising obtaining at least one metric of an eye of a patient; and determining, based on the at least one metric of the eye of the patient, at least one parameter for manufacturing an ophthalmic shield to be worn on the eye of the patient. In some embodiments, the ophthalmic shield may have a minimum horizontal dimension of 18 mm and a minimum vertical dimension of 15 mm. In some embodiments, the ophthalmic shield may have a minimum horizontal dimension of 20 mm and a minimum vertical dimension of 17 mm. In some embodiments, the ophthalmic shield may have a minimum horizontal dimension of 26 mm and a minimum vertical dimension of 22 mm.
Claims20
An ophthalmic shield to be worn on a human eye, the ophthalmic shield comprising:
- a curvilinear boundary;
- a primary substrate;
- and
- a coating over the primary substrate comprising an amniotic membrane;
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield is made of a hydrogel or silicone hydrogel material;
- and
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield is made of a soft material having an oxygen permeability of greater than 100×10-11 (cm2/sec) (mL O2)/(mL×mm Hg).
An ophthalmic shield to be worn on a human eye, the ophthalmic shield comprising:
- a curvilinear boundary;
- a primary substrate;
- and
- a coating over the primary substrate comprising an amniotic membrane;
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield is made of a soft material having an oxygen permeability of greater than 100×10-11 (cm2/sec) (mL O2)/(mL×mm Hg);
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield comprises a single modulus of elasticity;
- and
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield is made of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).
An ophthalmic shield to be worn on a human eye, the ophthalmic shield comprising:
- a curvilinear boundary;
- a primary substrate;
- and
- a coating over the primary substrate comprising an amniotic membrane;
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield is made of a soft material having an oxygen permeability of greater than 100×10-11 (cm2/sec) (mL O2)/(mL×mm Hg);
- and,
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield comprises a single modulus of elasticity;
- and
- wherein the primary substrate of the ophthalmic shield has a water content of less than 2%.
