Abstract
A compact reusable tote includes a sac and a closure flap. The sac is configured to transition between an open carry configuration and a compressed storage configuration. The sac includes generally symmetrical front and back panels having a generally rectangular lower portion and an upper portion including a strap. The front and back panels define an interior compartment. A closure flap having cooperating fastener portions is affixed to a sac panel. In the storage configuration the cooperating fastener portions are mated to one another such that no portion of the sac extends substantially beyond the left and right edges of the closure flap.

A collapsible carrying bag comprising:
- a flexible sac including a front panel and a rear panel joined along opposing side edges and a bottom edge and defining an interior compartment;
- at least one carrying strap secured to the sac;
- a closure flap affixed to an upper portion of the rear panel, the closure flap comprising:
- a body portion having opposing left and right edges and opposing top and bottom margins;
- and
- a top panel affixed to the body portion and extending along the top margin of the body portion,
- wherein the top panel comprises a solid bar extending substantially from the left edge to the right edge of the closure flap and providing transverse rigidity across the closure flap;
- the sac being configurable between an open configuration and a rolled storage configuration in which the sac is rolled upwardly from the bottom edge toward the closure flap;
- and
- in the rolled storage configuration the closure flap is wrapped around the rolled sac and secured to retain the sac in the rolled storage configuration.
A collapsible carrying bag comprising:
- a flexible sac including a front panel and a rear panel joined along opposing side edges and a bottom edge;
- a closure flap affixed to an upper portion of the rear panel, the closure flap comprising:
- a generally rectangular body portion;
- and
- a top panel affixed to the body portion and including a solid bar extending transversely across the closure flap from a left edge to a right edge thereof;
- wherein the sac is rollable upwardly toward the closure flap;
- and
- when the closure flap is wrapped around the rolled sac and secured, the solid bar provides structural rigidity across a width of the rolled sac.
A method of converting a collapsible carrying bag into a compact storage configuration, the bag including a flexible sac and a closure flap affixed to an upper portion of the sac, the closure flap comprising a body portion and a top panel including a solid bar extending substantially from a left edge to a right edge of the closure flap, the method comprising:
- rolling the sac upwardly toward the closure flap;
- wrapping the closure flap around the rolled sac;
- and
- securing the closure flap to retain the rolled sac in a compact configuration,
- wherein in the compact configuration the solid bar extends transversely across the rolled sac.
