Abstract
A fastening system includes a plurality of magnetically attracted fastening components, and first and second backing substrates for being brought together into an opposed relationship in which the substrates face each other. In some embodiments, the fastening components are provided on the substrates and arranged to be located between the substrates when the substrates are in the opposed relationship whereby corresponding ones of the fastening components are magnetically attracted sidewardly toward one another to fasten the substrates together. The corresponding ones of the fastening components comprise at least one fastening magnet provided on one of the substrates and one or more further fastening components provided on the other one of the substrates.

A fastening system, comprising:
- a plurality of magnetically attracted fastening components;
- and
- first and second backing substrates for being brought together into an opposed relationship in which the substrates face each other, the fastening components being provided on the substrates and arranged to be located between the substrates when the substrates are in the opposed relationship whereby corresponding ones of the fastening components are magnetically attracted sidewardly toward one another to fasten the substrates together, the corresponding ones of the fastening components comprising at least one fastening magnet provided on one of the substrates and one or more further fastening components provided on the other one of the substrates,
- wherein the one or more further fastening components are respectively selected from a further magnet and a component formed from a magnetically attracted material.
An item comprising a fastening system, the fastening system comprising:
- a plurality of magnetically attracted fastening components;
- and
- first and second backing substrates for being brought together into an opposed relationship in which the substrates face each other, the fastening components being provided on the substrates and arranged to be located between the substrates when the substrates are in the opposed relationship whereby corresponding ones of the fastening components are magnetically attracted sidewardly toward one another to fasten the substrates together, the corresponding ones of the fastening components comprising at least one fastening magnet provided on one of the substrates and one or more further fastening components provided on the other one of the substrates,
- wherein the one or more further fastening components are respectively selected from a further magnet and a component formed from a magnetically attracted material, and
- wherein the item is a brassiere, cap, or belt.
