Abstract
The present invention related to a method of thermally welding a thermoplastic hoof protector lug system to an equine hoof wall is disclosed. The method includes partially melting a hoof-facing layer of at least one lug of a collar-based lug system having lugs connected to the collar by webs around at least one elliptical or superelliptical recess, bringing the partially melted layer into contact with the hoof wall, and forming a material-bonded connection by cooling.
Claims4
A method of attaching a hoof protector (1.0) to a hoof (10.0) of an equine animal, characterized by
- (i) Partial melting, by means of a temporary heat input, of at least one hoof side oriented
- layer of at least one lug (8.1) of a hoof protector lug system (8.0), that is made of a thermoplastic polymer, wherein the hoof protector lug system (8.0) is formed from a collar (8.3) and at least one lug (8.1), wherein the collar (8.3) and each of the at least one lug (8.1) are connected to each other via a web area (8.2), wherein the web area (8.2) connects the at least one lug (8.1) with the collar (8.3) via webs (8.7), the web area (8.2) comprises at least one recess (8.6) which is in the form of an ellipse or a superellipse, two webs (8.7) are formed on opposite sides of each recess (8.6), and a number of the webs (8.7) is twice a number of the at least one recess (8.6),
- (ii) Bringing into contact the partially melted hoof side oriented layer of the lug (8.1) from step (i) with a hoof wall (10.1),
- (iii) Thermal welding of the partially melted hoof side oriented layer of the lug (8.1) from step (ii) to the hoof wall (10.1) wherein the thermal welding comprises cooling and a material bonding connecting the hoof side oriented layer of the lug (8.1) to the hoof wall (10.1).
