Device and method for performing handover in communication system

A method for operating a first base station in a communication system, the method comprising:

• Receiving a measurement report from a terminal;
• determining execution of a handover of the terminal;
• transmitting a handover request message to at least one or more neighbor base stations;
• receiving a handover request acknowledge message from the at least one or more neighbor base stations;
• and
• transmitting, to the terminal, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including, as information on candidate base stations for the handover, at least one of information on a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) of a second base station, information on a timing difference between the first base station and the second base station, and information on an uplink resource allocated by the second base station.
