Using bloom filters to invoke a server action

A method for communicating to at least a first server information identifying a set of interaction capabilities, the set of interaction capabilities comprising a first interaction capability and a second interaction capability, the method comprising:

• obtaining a first identifier (Id_1), identifying the first interaction capability;
• obtaining a second identifier (Id_2), identifying the second interaction capability;
• deriving a first bit string (B_1), where B_1 is equal to (Id_1|Id_2), and | is a bitwise OR operator;
• and
• transmitting a request message comprising B_1 or B_2, where B_2 is a bit string derived using B_1.

A server capable of being requested by a client to perform one or more actions, the server being configured to:

• obtain a first identifier (Id_1), wherein the first identifier is associated with a first action;
• obtain a second identifier (Id_2), wherein the second identifier is associated with a second action;
• receive a request message transmitted by the client, the request message comprising a bloom filter;
• determine that Id_1 is included in the bloom filter;
• after determining that Id_1 is included in the bloom filter, perform the first action;
• determine whether Id_2 is included in the bloom filter;
• and
• if it is determined that Id_2 is included in the bloom filter, then perform the second action.

A client for communicating to at least a first server information identifying a set of interaction capabilities, the set of interaction capabilities comprising a first interaction capability and a second interaction capability, the client being configured to:

• obtain a first identifier (Id_1), identifying the first interaction capability;
• obtain a second identifier (Id_2), identifying the second interaction capability;
• derive a first bit string (B_1), where B_1 is equal to (Id_1|Id_2), and | is a bitwise OR operator;
• and
• transmit a request message comprising B_1 or B_2, where B_2 is a bit string derived using B_1.
