Abstract
Methods and systems for simulating dental whitening. A three-dimensional (3D) model of a dentition may be sent to a treatment planning system. A whitened 3D model of the dentition may be received from the treatment planning system. The whitened 3D model may be generated by: converting color values of the 3D model from a first color space to a second color space, wherein the second color space includes one or more color components and one or more lightness components; and generating the whitened 3D model by adjusting a lightness value of one or more portions of the 3D model. The whitened 3D model may be displayed.
Claims20
A method of simulating a dental whitening treatment, the method comprising:
- sending an initial three-dimensional (3D) model of a dentition to a treatment planning system;
- receiving a whitened 3D model of the dentition from the treatment planning system,
- wherein the whitened 3D model is generated by:
- converting color values of the 3D model from a first color space to a second color space, wherein the second color space comprises one or more color components and one or more lightness components;
- and
- generating the whitened 3D model by adjusting a lightness value of one or more portions of the 3D model;
- and
- displaying the whitened 3D model.
A system for simulating a teeth whitening procedure, the system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory configured to store instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
- access a three-dimensional (3D) model of a dentition;
- convert color values of the 3D model from a first color space to a second color space, wherein the second color space comprises one or more color components and one or more lightness components;
- generate a whitened 3D model by adjusting a lightness value of one or more portions of the 3D model;
- and
- output the whitened 3D model.
A method of simulating a dental whitening treatment, the method comprising:
- sending an initial three-dimensional (3D) model of a dentition to a treatment planning system;
- receiving a whitened 3D model of the dentition from the treatment planning system, wherein the whitened 3D model is generated by:
- converting color values of the 3D model from a first color space to a second color space, wherein the second color space comprises one or more color components and one or more lightness components;
- and
- generating a whitened 3D model by adjusting a blue-yellow color hue value (delta b value) of one or more portions of the 3D model;
- and
- displaying the whitened 3D model.
