Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body including a first opening, a first cartridge including a developing roller, a second cartridge including a storage portion, a first cover including a second opening, and a second cover. In a case where the first cover is positioned in the first open position and the second cover is positioned in the second open position, a first area of the first opening is opened when viewed in the first direction. A second area is included in the first area. A whole of the second cartridge attached to the first cartridge is disposed in a second area when viewed in the first direction. A portion of the first cartridge attached to the apparatus body is disposed outside the second area when viewed in the first direction.

1-39. (canceled)
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an apparatus body;
- a first cartridge configured to be attached to and detached from the apparatus body in a first direction, the first cartridge including:
- a photosensitive drum rotatable around a rotation axis intersecting the first direction;
- a developing roller configured to supply toner to the photosensitive drum;
- a toner storage portion configured to store the toner to be borne by the developing roller;
- and
- an attachment portion;
- a second cartridge configured to store the toner to be supplied to the toner storage portion and disposed inside the apparatus body, the second cartridge being configured to be attached to and detached from the attachment portion of the first cartridge in the first direction;
- a first cover including a first supported portion supported by the apparatus body, the first cover being configured to pivot around the first supported portion between a first closed position in which the first cover is closed with respect to the apparatus body so as to cover a portion of the first cartridge when viewed in the first direction, and a first open position in which the first cover is opened with respect to the apparatus body;
- and
- a second cover including a second supported portion supported by the first cover, the second cover being configured to pivot around the second supported portion, in a state where the first cover is in the first closed position, between a second closed position in which the second cover is closed with respect to the apparatus body so as to cover the second cartridge when viewed in the first direction, and a second open position in which the second cover is opened with respect to the apparatus body,
- wherein in a state where the first cover is in the first closed position and the second cover is in the second open position, (i) the second cartridge is configured to be allowed to be detached from the attachment portion and taken out to an outside of the apparatus body, and (ii) the first cartridge is configured to be restricted from being detached from the apparatus body,
- wherein by the first cover pivoting around the first supported portion from the first closed position to the first open position, the second supported portion of the second cover is moved with respect to the apparatus body together with the second cover, and the second cover is configured to move to a third open position opened with respect to the apparatus body, and
- wherein in a state where the first cover is in the first open position and the second cover is in the third open position, the first cartridge is configured to be allowed to be detached from the apparatus body.
The image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the apparatus body includes:
- a transfer roller forming a transfer nip together with the photosensitive drum;
- a fixing portion configured to fix the toner image to the sheet while conveying the sheet onto which the toner image has been transferred in the transfer nip;
- and
- a discharging roller configured to convey the sheet, onto which the toner image has been fixed by the fixing portion, in a discharging direction so as to discharge the sheet to an outside of the image forming apparatus, and
- wherein a conveying direction of the sheet conveyed from the transfer nip to the fixing portion is a direction opposite to the discharging direction.
