Abstract
Shut-off valves for cryogenic fluids are disclosed herein. A shut-off valve includes a body defining a flow passage, a valve seat located along the flow passage, a housing including an internal surface and connected to the body, a valve spindle, and a buffer. The valve spindle extends through the housing. The valve spindle includes a seat disc configured to sealingly engage the valve seat and a spindle collar. The buffer circumferentially surrounds and is connected to at least a portion of the valve spindle and is slidingly engaged with the internal surface of the housing. The buffer defines a notch extending circumferentially around a portion of the buffer. The spindle collar extends into the notch to align and position the buffer around the valve spindle.

A shut-off valve, comprising:
- a body defining a flow passage;
- a valve seat located along the flow passage;
- a housing including an internal surface and connected to the body;
- a valve spindle extending through the housing and including:
- a seat disc configured to sealingly engage the valve seat;
- and
- a spindle collar;
- and
- a buffer circumferentially surrounding and connected to at least a portion of the valve spindle and slidingly engaged with the internal surface of the housing, wherein the buffer defines a notch extending circumferentially around a portion of the buffer, and wherein the spindle collar extends into the notch to align and position the buffer around the valve spindle.
A shut-off valve, comprising:
- a body including a flow passage;
- a valve seat located along the flow passage;
- a housing connected to the body and including an internal surface;
- a valve spindle extending through the housing and including a seat disc configured to sealingly engage with the valve seat;
- and
- a plurality of buffers stacked together to collectively circumferentially surround and connect to at least a portion of the valve spindle and slidingly engage with the internal surface of the housing, wherein, to stack together and align with the valve spindle, each buffer defines a notch around a first portion and a buffer collar around a second portion.
