Abstract
Cell culture media, concentrated media and feeds, methods of manufacturing cell culture media and feeds, and methods of culturing cells are provided. One or more small peptides, including dipeptides are added to the cell culture media to provide improved stability and improved conditions for culturing cells.
Claims20
A supplement comprising one or more small peptides,
- wherein each small peptide comprises 2 to 6 canonical amino acids,
- wherein each small peptide comprises at least one amino acid selected from cysteine and tyrosine, and
- wherein the supplement is a powder that is used in cell culture after dissolution into a suitable solvent at neutral pH.
A serum-free supplement comprising:
- (a) a canonical small peptide having 2 to 6 amino acids, wherein at least one amino acid is cysteine;
- and (b) a canonical small peptide having 2 to 6 amino acids, wherein at least one amino acid is tyrosine;
- wherein the supplement is a hydrolysate-free dry powder that is used in cell culture after dissolution into a suitable solvent, and wherein the canonical small peptides further comprise amino acids selected from the group consisting of alanine, serine, threonine, glycine, valine, proline, arginine, asparagine, glutamine, histidine, lysine, phenylalanine, leucine, isoleucine, methionine, tryptophan, tyrosine, glutamic acid, and aspartic acid.
A cell culture medium, comprising a supplement, the supplement comprising one or more small peptides, each small peptide comprising 2 to 6 canonical amino acids and at least one amino acid selected from cysteine and tyrosine, the cell culture medium being suitable for in vitro cultivation of a cell.
