Abstract
Embodiments of the disclosure are directed to an aircraft, particularly an aircraft for vertical take-off and landing. The aircraft includes a fuselage, and a variable lift body defining an aerofoil. The variable lift body is moveably attached to the fuselage. The variable lift body is pivotable around a first axis extending in the wing span direction. The rotary actor is adapted to cause the variable lift body to pivot in relation to the fuselage arranged within the aerofoil.

1-21. (canceled)
An aircraft, comprising:
- a fuselage;
- a variable lift body movably attached to the fuselage and configured to be pivotable about a first axis extending in a wingspan direction of the aircraft, wherein the variable lift body defines an airfoil;
- and
- a joint assembly connecting the variable lift body and the fuselage, the joint assembly including:
- a support ring;
- a bearing disposed in the support ring;
- a torque shaft supported by the bearing and extending along the first axis;
- and
- an arm extending radially from the torque shaft, wherein the arm includes a spherical joint configured to connect the torque shaft and at least one of the fuselage or the variable lift body,
- wherein rotation of the torque shaft about the first axis causes circumferential motion of a distal end of the arm for transmitting torque between the variable lift body and the fuselage about the first axis.

An aircraft, comprising:
- a fuselage;
- a variable lift body movably attached to the fuselage and configured to be pivotable about a first axis extending in a wingspan direction of the aircraft, wherein the variable lift body defines an airfoil;
- and
- a joint assembly connecting the variable lift body and the fuselage,
- wherein the joint assembly comprises a first spherical joint, a second spherical joint, and a third spherical joint, and at least one linkage connecting the second spherical joint to the third spherical joint,
- wherein centers of rotation of the first, second, and third spherical joints are arranged in a single plane,
- wherein the single plane is oriented crosswise to the first axis, and
- wherein the joint assembly is configured to transfer torque between the variable lift body and the fuselage about the first axis while permitting relative movement between the variable lift body and the fuselage about at least one axis crosswise to the first axis.
