Fuel consumption management

A computer-implemented method for fuel consumption management of marine vessels, the method comprising executing on a processor the steps of:

• obtaining historic navigation data of a plurality of marine vessels, indicative of routes and accelerations in past voyages of each marine vessel out of the plurality of the marine vessels;
• processing the historic navigation data to generate historic acceleration analysis data indicative of correlations between prevalence of acceleration events and event contextual criteria, the event contextual criteria comprising at least acceleration event location;
• obtaining navigation data of a monitored marine vessel, indicative of a plurality of vessel acceleration events of the monitored marine vessel, the plurality of vessel acceleration events comprising at least a first vessel acceleration event and a second vessel acceleration event;
• for each vessel acceleration event out of the plurality of vessel acceleration events:
• obtaining event contextual criteria of the respective vessel acceleration event;
• and
• estimating acceleration divergence from historic acceleration behavior based on the event contextual criteria and on the historic acceleration analysis data;
• and
• generating excess acceleration data for the monitored marine vessel based on the plurality of acceleration divergences estimated for the marine vessel, the excess acceleration data indicative of degree of excess acceleration of the monitored marine vessel at the plurality of vessel acceleration events.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium for fuel consumption management, comprising instructions stored thereon, that when executed on a processor, perform the steps of:

• obtaining historic navigation data of a plurality of marine vessels, indicative of routes and accelerations in past voyages of each marine vessel out of the plurality of the marine vessels;
• processing the historic navigation data to generate historic acceleration analysis data indicative of correlations between prevalence of acceleration events and event contextual criteria, the event contextual criteria comprising at least acceleration event location;
• obtaining navigation data of a monitored marine vessel, indicative of a plurality of vessel acceleration events of the monitored marine vessel, the plurality of vessel acceleration events comprising at least a first vessel acceleration event and a second vessel acceleration event;
• for each vessel acceleration event out of the plurality of vessel acceleration events:
• obtaining event contextual criteria of the respective vessel acceleration event;
• and
• estimating acceleration divergence from historic acceleration behavior based on the event contextual criteria and on the historic acceleration analysis data;
• and
• generating excess acceleration data for the monitored marine vessel based on the plurality of acceleration divergences estimated for the marine vessel, the excess acceleration data indicative of degree of excess acceleration of the monitored marine vessel at the plurality of vessel acceleration events.
