Steering assembly

A steering assembly comprising:

• a support structure suitable for being coupled to a chassis of a road vehicle and extending along a longitudinal axis;
• a sleeve extending coaxially with the support structure and slidingly movable and angularly fixed with respect to the support structure;
• a steering column extending coaxially within the sleeve, being rotatable about the longitudinal axis and comprising a first portion slidingly fixed relative to the support structure and a second portion rotatably coupled to the sleeve and slidingly movable, together with the sleeve, relative to the support structure along the longitudinal axis;
• a steering wheel fixed to an axial end of the second portion;
• the steering assembly is characterised in that it comprises a retaining element comprising a first end in a fixed position with respect to the support structure and a second end opposite the first end and in a fixed position with respect to the sleeve;
• wherein the retaining element has a length such that it limits a sliding of the sleeve in a departing direction from the support structure starting from a reference position to a first predefined limit sliding value and is flexible to allow axial sliding of the sleeve in an approaching direction towards said reference position.
