Tow truck wheel lift assemblies

A wheel lift apparatus of for a tow truck, the wheel lift apparatus comprising:

• a hydraulic wheel lift assembly comprising:
• a first set of one or more hydraulically operated arms configured to attach to a body of the tow truck;
• and
• a first wheel retainer structure connected to the first set of hydraulically operated arms, the first wheel retainer structure configured to hold a first pair of wheels of a vehicle off the ground during a towing operation, the first wheel retainer structure comprising:
• a cross bar connected to at least one of the hydraulically operated arms in the first set of hydraulically operated arms;
• a first wheel retainer connected to the cross bar, the first wheel retainer comprising a first frame, and a first plurality of rollers connected to the first frame;
• a second wheel retainer removably connected by a first rod to the cross bar, the second wheel retainer comprising a second frame, and a second plurality of rollers connected to the second frame;
• a third wheel retainer connected to the cross bar, the third wheel retainer comprising a third frame, and a third plurality of rollers connected to the third frame;
• a fourth wheel retainer removably connected by a second rod to the cross bar, the fourth wheel retainer comprising a fourth frame, and a fourth plurality of rollers connected to the second fourth frame;
• wherein the first and second wheel retainers are configured to hold a first wheel of a vehicle off the ground during a towing operation, wherein the third and fourth wheel retainers are configured to hold a second wheel of the vehicle off the ground during the towing operation,
• wherein the first plurality of rollers are configured to engage a first side of the first wheel of the vehicle, wherein the second plurality of rollers are configured to engage a second side of the first wheel of the vehicle, wherein the first and second plurality of rollers are configured to allow the first wheel of the vehicle to rotate during the towing operation, and
• wherein the third plurality of rollers are configured to engage a first side of the second wheel of the vehicle, wherein the fourth plurality of rollers are configured to engage a second side of the second wheel of the vehicle, wherein the third and fourth plurality of rollers are configured to allow the second wheel of the vehicle to rotate during the towing operation.
