Caster with a running wheel having an axis of rotation and a running surface

A caster (1) comprising;

• a running wheel (2) having an axis of rotation (y) and a running surface (15), and a locking element (34) with a locking jaw (35), the locking element (34) being movable between a release position and an engagement position in which the locking jaw acts on the running surface (15) to lock the running wheel (2),
• wherein in the engagement position, the locking jaw (35), while supported on the locking element (34), is movable from an initial blocking position into a final blocking position due to a rotational movement of the running wheel (2) itself,
• wherein the locking jaw (35) is designed wedge-shaped in a cross section in which the axis of rotation (y) is represented as a point, and the locking element (34) has a support surface (47) for the locking jaw (35) and the locking jaw (35) has a supporting surface (58) which interacts with the support surface (47),
• wherein the support surface (47) is designed to be elongated in a circumferential direction (U) of the running wheel (2), and wherein the supporting surface (58) is movable along the support surface (47) in the circumferential direction (U) during a movement out of the initial blocking position into the final blocking position, so that the supporting surface (58) as a whole is offset in the circumferential direction (U) in the final blocking position with respect to the support surface (47) and with respect to a position of the supporting surface (58) in the initial blocking position.
