Abstract
A printer includes a thermal head including multiple heating elements arranged in a line; a memory; and a processor configured to execute a program stored in the memory to perform the steps of: obtaining print data to be printed, determining a characteristic of the print data, and controlling the thermal head to print the print data line by line using thermal history control based on the determined characteristic of the print data. The thermal history control controls an amount of heat to be generated by each of the heating elements considering an amount of heat that has been stored in the each of the heating elements during a process of printing the print data.

A printer comprising:
- a thermal head including multiple heating elements arranged in a line;
- a memory;
- and
- a processor configured to execute a program stored in the memory to perform the steps of:
- obtaining print data to be printed,
- determining a characteristic of the print data, and
- controlling the thermal head to print the print data line by line using thermal history control based on the determined characteristic of the print data, wherein the thermal history control controls an amount of heat to be generated by each of the heating elements considering an amount of heat that has been stored in the each of the heating elements during a process of printing the print data.
A method performed by a printer that includes a thermal head including multiple heating elements arranged in a line, the method comprising:
- obtaining print data to be printed;
- determining a characteristic of the print data;
- and
- controlling the thermal head to print the print data line by line using thermal history control based on the determined characteristic of the print data, wherein the thermal history control controls an amount of heat to be generated by each of the heating elements considering an amount of heat that has been stored in the each of the heating elements during a process of printing the print data.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for causing a processor of a printer, which includes a thermal head including multiple heating elements arranged in a line, to perform a process including:
- obtaining print data to be printed;
- determining a characteristic of the print data;
- and
- controlling the thermal head to print the print data line by line using thermal history control based on the determined characteristic of the print data, wherein the thermal history control controls an amount of heat to be generated by each of the heating elements considering an amount of heat that has been stored in the each of the heating elements during a process of printing the print data.
