Abstract
The invention relates to a microcapsule, wherein the microcapsules have a core and a shell; the core comprising a core material selected from perfumes; the shell comprises plant protein and polysaccharide, wherein the polysaccharide is selected from: pectins, natural or chemically modified celluloses, xanthan gum, konjac gum, xyloglucan, guar gum, tara gum, locust bean gum, inulin, curdlan gum, diutan gum, alginate, gellan and carrageenan; and to a method of producing microcapsules of the invention, wherein the method does not involve chemically covalent crosslinking.
Claims20
A microcapsule comprising a core and a shell;
- wherein the core comprises a core material selected from perfumes;
- wherein a shell material comprises a plant protein and a polysaccharide, wherein the polysaccharide is selected from:
- pectins, natural or chemically modified celluloses, xanthan gum, konjac gum, xyloglucan, guar gum, tara gum, locust bean gum, inulin, curdlan gum, diutan gum, alginate, gellan, carrageenan, and any combination thereof.
A method of producing microcapsules comprising a core and a shell, wherein the method comprises:
- providing an oil phase comprising at least one first crosslinking agent, wherein the crosslinking agent is substantially dissolved together with a core material:
- providing a water phase comprising shell materials comprising a pea protein and alginate;
- emulsifying the oil phase and the water phase, and crosslinking to obtain a microcapsule slurry;
- and
- curing the microcapsule slurry to form the microcapsules, and optionally drying the microcapsules,
- wherein the method does not involve chemically covalent crosslinking, and wherein the core material comprises a perfume.
