Abstract
A medical device is configured to detect an alternating pattern of signal features determined from consecutive segments of a cardiac electrical signal and determine a gross morphology metric from at least one segment of the cardiac electrical signal. The device is configured to detect cardiac event oversensing in response to detecting the alternating pattern and the gross morphology metric not meeting tachyarrhythmia morphology criteria. The medical device may withhold detecting an arrhythmia in response to detecting the cardiac event oversensing.
Claims20
A medical device comprising:
- a therapy delivery circuit configured to deliver a therapy when a control circuit detects a ventricular tachyarrhythmia;
- a sensing circuit configured to sense one or more cardiac electrical signals comprising a first cardiac electrical signal and cardiac event signals in the first cardiac electrical signal;
- and
- the control circuit configured to:
- determine two consecutive signal feature differences from three consecutive cardiac event signals in the first cardiac electrical signal;
- based on at least the two consecutive signal feature differences, detect P-wave oversensing of at least one P-wave being falsely sensed as an R-wave in the one or more cardiac electrical signals;
- in response to detecting the P-wave oversensing, control the therapy delivery circuit to not deliver the therapy.
A method comprising:
- sensing one or more cardiac electrical signals comprising a first cardiac electrical signal and cardiac event signals in the first cardiac electrical signal;
- determining two consecutive signal feature differences from three consecutive cardiac event signals in the first cardiac electrical signal;
- based on at least the two consecutive signal feature differences, detecting P-wave oversensing of at least one P-wave being falsely sensed as an R-wave in the one or more cardiac electrical signals;
- in response to detecting the P-wave oversensing, withholding a tachyarrhythmia therapy.
