Abstract
Methods and devices are provided for delivering a fluid into a uterine cavity of a female reproductive system. More particularly, the present disclosure describes a sonohysterogram catheter device comprising a catheter tube and a shape-retentive annular sealing member surrounding a portion of the catheter tube. In examples, the catheter tube and sealing member are cooperatively configured such that when a first end of the catheter tube is positioned within a cervical canal of a female reproductive system, an exterior surface of the sealing member contacts tissue surrounding the cervical canal to occlude the cervical canal, with effect that fluid within the uterine cavity does not escape.
Claims20
A sonohysterogram catheter device comprising
- a catheter tube defining a lumen that extends a length of the catheter tube from a fluid receiving port at a fluid receiving end of the catheter tube to a fluid delivery port at a fluid delivery end of the catheter tube, wherein an annular sealing member is located proximate the fluid delivery end of the catheter tube such that when the fluid delivery end of the catheter tube is positioned within a cervical canal of a female reproductive system, an exterior surface of the annular sealing member contacts tissue surrounding the cervical canal to occlude the cervical canal and prevent fluid from escaping a uterine cavity of the female reproductive system.
A sonohysterogram catheter device comprising:
- a catheter tube defining a lumen;
- and
- a shape-retentive annular sealing member surrounding a portion of the catheter tube;
- the catheter tube and sealing member being cooperatively configured such that when a fluid delivery end of the catheter tube is positioned within a cervical canal of a female reproductive system, an exterior surface of the sealing member contacts tissue surrounding the cervical canal to occlude the cervical canal, with effect that fluid within a uterine cavity of the female reproductive system is contained in the uterine cavity and does not leak through the cervical canal.
