Abstract
The disclosure provides an antimicrobial composition comprising hypohalous acid and a salt of an organic acid, as well as methods of use for disinfecting mammalian tissue, including wounds and burns, and other uses.

An antimicrobial composition comprising hypohalous acid and a salt of an organic acid, wherein the pH of the composition is from about 3.5 to about 6.8, and wherein the salt optionally comprises an acetate salt, and where the acetate salt is optionally potassium acetate and/or sodium acetate.
