Abstract
A method for altering an eye color of a patient with a color alteration procedure is disclosed that may include determining a laser power to deliver to stromal pigment in an iris of the eye of the patient by at least retrieving a set of laser criteria for delivery of an exposure less than 100 times a maximum permissible exposure that causes elimination of at least a portion of the stromal pigment. A laser system may be set to deliver laser light at the laser power which is less than the set of laser criteria and the laser light may be delivered with the laser system.
Claims23
A laser system for altering eye color of a patient in a color alteration procedure, the laser system comprising:
- a laser head comprising components to generate laser light;
- at least one programmable processor;
- and
- one or more non-transitory, machine-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first repetition rate of the laser light to deliver to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- delivering, with the laser system, the laser light at the first repetition rate to the stromal pigment in the iris to perform the color alteration procedure;
- while delivering the laser light at the first repetition rate, monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light at the first repetition rate to cause a concurrent temperature change in the stromal pigment that causes macrophages in the iris to remove at least a portion of the stromal pigment.
A method for altering eye color of eyes of patients in a color alteration procedure, the method comprising:
- determining a first repetition rate of laser light to deliver to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- delivering, with a laser system, the laser light at the first repetition rate to the stromal pigment in the iris;
- while delivering the laser light at the first repetition rate, monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light at the first repetition rate to cause a concurrent temperature change in the stromal pigment that causes macrophages in the iris to remove at least a portion of the stromal pigment.
One or more non-transitory, machine-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first repetition rate of laser light to deliver to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- delivering, with a laser system, the laser light at the first repetition rate to the stromal pigment in the iris;
- monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris for a concurrent temperature change, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light at the first repetition rate.
A laser system for altering eye color of a patient in a color alteration procedure, the laser system comprising:
- a laser head comprising components to generate laser light;
- at least one programmable processor;
- and
- one or more non-transitory, machine-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first depth of focus for delivering laser light to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- determining a first focal plane to deliver the laser light to the stromal pigment in the iris, wherein the first focal plane corresponds to the first depth of focus in the iris;
- delivering, with the laser system, the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus;
- while delivering the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus, monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus to cause a concurrent temperature change in the stromal pigment that causes macrophages in the iris to remove at least a portion of the stromal pigment.
A method for altering eye color of eyes of patients in a color alteration procedure, the method comprising:
- determining a first depth of focus for delivering laser light to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- determining a first focal plane to deliver the laser light to the stromal pigment in the iris, wherein the first focal plane corresponds to the first depth of focus in the iris;
- delivering, with a laser system, the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus;
- while delivering the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus, monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus to cause a concurrent temperature change in the stromal pigment that causes macrophages in the iris to remove at least a portion of the stromal pigment.
One or more non-transitory, machine-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first depth of focus for delivering laser light to a stromal pigment in an iris of an eye of a patient;
- determining a first focal plane to deliver the laser light to the stromal pigment in the iris corresponding to the first depth of focus;
- delivering, with a laser system, the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus to the stromal pigment in the iris;
- monitoring an anterior iris surface of the iris;
- and
- based on monitoring the anterior iris surface of the iris for a concurrent temperature change, determining whether to continue to deliver the laser light to the first focal plane at the first depth of focus.
