E-spring furniture products

A foldable mattress having an open position for supporting a user and a folded position for storage, the foldable mattress, comprising:

• a spring assembly comprising:
• an upper wire grid;
• a lower wire grid;
• and
• a plurality of sinuous springs connected to the upper wire grid and the lower wire grid to space the upper wire grid from the lower wire grid, the plurality of sinuous springs pivotally connected to the upper wire grid at a first side of the plurality of sinuous springs and connected to the lower wire grid at a second side of the plurality of sinuous springs, the first side opposite the second side;
• a transition section comprising:
• an upper bar connected to the upper wire grid, the upper wire grid configured to pivot about the upper bar;
• and
• a lower bar connected to the lower wire grid, the lower wire grid configured to pivot about the lower bar,
• wherein the upper wire grid and the lower wire grid are configured to pivot about the upper bar and the lower bar, respectively, between the open position and the folded position with the plurality of sinuous springs pivoting about the upper wire grid and the lower wire grid to cause the upper bar and the lower bar are to simultaneously pivot about the upper bar and the lower bar;
• and
• a furniture piece configured to store the foldable mattress within a storage compartment in the folded position,
• wherein, in the open position, a general extent of the plurality of sinuous springs extending between the upper wire grid and the lower wire grid is perpendicular to a general extent of the upper wire grid and a general extent of the lower wire grid for the plurality of sinuous springs to space the upper wire grid from the lower wire grid a first distance, the plurality of sinuous springs configured to support the user on the foldable mattress in the open position, and
• wherein, in the folded position, the general extent of the plurality of sinuous springs extending between the upper wire grid and the lower wire grid is at an angle to the general extent of the upper wire grid and the general extent of the lower wire grid for the plurality of sinuous springs to space the upper wire grid from the lower wire grid a second distance, wherein the second distance is less than the first distance to allow for storage of the foldable mattress in the storage compartment.
