Agricultural compositions comprising remodeled nitrogen fixing microbes

A composition, comprising:

• a) a plurality of non-intergeneric remodeled bacteria;
• and
• b) a microbial stabilizer selected from 2-chloro-6-(trichloromethyl) pyridine, dicyandiamide (DCD), 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-HCl, 2,4-diamino-6-trichloro-methyltriazine, thiourea, 1-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole, 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methyl-pyramidine, 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP), 1-amide-2-thiourea (ASU), ammoniumthiosulfate (ATS), 1H-1,2,4-triazole, 5-ethylene oxide-3-trichloro-methlyl,2,4-thiodiazole, 3-methylpyrazole (3-MP), 1-carbamoyle-3-methyl-pyrazole (CMP), a sulfhydryl reagent, a hydroxamate, an agricultural crop protection chemical, a structural analog of urea, and any combination thereof;
• wherein the non-intergeneric remodeled bacteria produce fixed N of at least about 1×10−17 mmol N per bacterial cell per hour;
• and
• wherein the non-intergeneric remodeled bacteria have an average colonization ability per unit of plant root tissue of at least about 1.0×104 bacterial cells per gram of fresh weight of plant root tissue.
