A quantum dot population comprising silver chalcogenide quantum dots is disclosed, wherein the silver chalcogenide quantum dots do not include phosphine or halide. A method for obtaining the quantum dot population of the invention and an optoelectronic device comprising the quantum dot population are also disclosed.
