Abstract
Methods, apparatuses, and systems are described for reducing the amount of storage space required to store content item recordings. A content item may include one or more portions. A playback probability may be determined based on a duration of time a content item is stored in a storage location. One or more of the portions of the content item may be removed based on the playback probability associated with the content item.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device, a first portion, at a first quality level, and a second portion, at a second quality level, of a plurality of portions of a content item, wherein the plurality of portions are associated with a plurality of recordings of the content item in storage;
- determining, based on a duration of time, that the first portion is to be replaced in storage with the second portion, wherein the duration of time is associated with storage of the first portion or the second portion;
- and
- causing the first portion to be replaced in storage with the second portion.
An apparatus comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- determine a first portion, at a first quality level, and a second portion, at a second quality level, of a plurality of portions of a content item, wherein the plurality of portions are associated with a plurality of recordings of the content item in storage;
- determine, based on a duration of time, that the first portion is to be replaced in storage with the second portion, wherein the duration of time is associated with storage of the first portion or the second portion;
- and
- cause the first portion to be replaced in storage with the second portion.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
- determine, by a computing device, a first portion, at a first quality level, and a second portion, at a second quality level, of a plurality of portions of a content item, wherein the plurality of portions are associated with a plurality of recordings of the content item in storage;
- determine, based on a duration of time, that the first portion is to be replaced in storage with the second portion, wherein the duration of time is associated with storage of the first portion or the second portion;
- and
- cause the first portion to be replaced in storage with the second portion.
