Combining video streams having different information-bearing levels

An electronic device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a non-transitory memory;
• a camera system;
• and
• one or more programs stored in the non-transitory memory that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to:
• record, using the camera system, a first video stream;
• determine that the first video stream satisfies a trigger criterion based on detecting, within the first video stream, a particular object or a threshold amount of video content change;
• in response to determining that the first video stream satisfies the trigger criterion, record, using the camera system, a second video stream of a higher video quality than the first video stream;
• and
• generate a third video stream by adding information derived from the second video stream to the first video stream, wherein the third video stream corresponds to an enhanced version of the first video stream.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs comprising instructions that, when executed by an electronic device including a camera system, cause the electronic device to:

• record, using the camera system, a first video stream;
• determine that the first video stream satisfies a trigger criterion based on detecting, within the first video stream, a particular object or a threshold amount of video content change;
• in response to determining that the first video stream satisfies the trigger criterion, record, using the camera system, a second video stream of a higher video quality than the first video stream;
• and
• generate a third video stream by adding information derived from the second video stream to the first video stream, wherein the third video stream corresponds to an enhanced version of the first video stream.
