Abstract
A plurality of computing devices are communicatively coupled to each other via a network, and each of the plurality of computing devices is operably coupled to one or more of a plurality of storage devices. The computing devices may push a point in time to a backend for a distributed storage system.

- generating a snapshot of a file system;
- storing the snapshot to an object storage;
- and
- enabling access to the snapshot by a computing environment, wherein:
- the file system comprises a plurality of devices and a plurality of buckets, and
- each bucket in the plurality of buckets is configured to manage a portion of the file system.

- generating a snapshot configuration tree according to a plurality of snapshots of a file system;
- determining changes to the file system according to the snapshot configuration tree;

- storing the changes to the file system in a backend object storage, wherein the file system comprises a plurality of buckets distributed across a plurality of devices.
