Abstract
A foodstuff can include a free acid β-hydroxybutyrate, and a base. The β-hydroxybutyrate, and base, are present at a less than 1:1 molar equivalence. Ketone Ester may also be incorporated as a component of the foodstuff.
Claims12
A foodstuff comprising at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts, wherein at least one of the salts is selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and calcium D-hydroxybutyrate;
- wherein the foodstuff comprises an amount of the at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts sufficient to provide not more than the FDA recommended daily allowance guidelines for at least one of sodium, potassium, and calcium;
- and wherein the foodstuff is free of medium chain fatty acids and esters thereof.
A foodstuff comprising at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts, wherein at least one of the salts is selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and calcium D β-hydroxybutyrate;
- wherein the foodstuff comprises up to 2,000 mg of sodium;
- wherein the foodstuff comprises up to 5,000 mg of potassium;
- wherein the foodstuff comprises up to 1,000 mg calcium;
- and wherein the foodstuff is free of medium chain fatty acids and esters thereof.
A method of supporting nutritional ketosis in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a foodstuff comprising at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts, wherein at least one of the salts is selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and calcium D β-hydroxybutyrate;
- wherein the foodstuff comprises an amount of the at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts sufficient to provide not more than the FDA recommended daily allowance guidelines for at least one of sodium, potassium, and calcium;
- and wherein the foodstuff is free of medium chain fatty acids and esters thereof.
A method for enhancing physical performance and muscle recovery in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a foodstuff comprising at least two D β-hydroxybutyrate salts, wherein the salts comprise at least one cation selected from sodium, potassium, calcium, and combinations thereof;
- wherein the at least one cation is present in an amount formulated to maintain not more than the FDA recommended daily allowance guidelines for each cation;
- and wherein the foodstuff is free of medium chain fatty acids and esters thereof.
