Abstract
A variety of scooters are disclosed. In some embodiments, a scooter can include a pivot assembly that allows the scooter to move between a folded and unfolded configuration. The pivot assembly can include a knob that frees a pin from a bracket to allow the scooter to fold. Turing the knob increases compressive forces on elements of the pivot assembly to reduce rattling noise and wobbling movement when the scooter is in use. Some embodiments of the scooter can include a center stand that can be deployed from either side of the scooter deck to stabilize the scooter when the scooter is stationary. Certain embodiments have an ergonomic handgrip.

A foldable scooter comprising:
- a handlebar assembly comprising and handgrips, a head tube, a front wheel, and a support, the support comprising a front side, a rear side, a right side, and a left side, the front side having an elongate front slot, the rear side having an elongate rear slot;
- a deck configured to support a rider;
- a rear wheel on a rear of the deck;
- and
- a pivot assembly on a front of the deck, the pivot assembly pivotably connecting the support of the handlebar assembly to the deck, the pivot assembly comprising:
- a bracket fixed to the deck, the bracket comprising a right lateral portion and a left lateral portion, the right lateral portion laterally outward of the right side of the support, the left lateral portion laterally outward of the left side of the support;
- a brace comprising a right lateral end, a left lateral end, and an intermediate portion, the right lateral end fixed to the right lateral portion of the bracket, the left lateral end fixed to the left lateral portion of the bracket;
- a threaded rod inside the support and extending into the elongate front and rear slots, the threaded rod rotatable relative to the support and slidable in the elongate front and rear slots, the threaded rod having a first end and a second end;
- a knob connected to the first end of the threaded rod, the knob on the rear side of the support;
- and
- a foot connected to the second end of the threaded rod, the foot configured to abut against the intermediate portion of the brace.
A foldable scooter comprising:
- a handlebar assembly comprising and handgrips, a head tube, a front wheel, and a hollow support, the hollow support comprising an elongate front slot and an elongate rear slot;
- a deck configured to support a rider;
- a rear wheel on a rear of the deck;
- and
- a pivot assembly on a front of the deck, the pivot assembly pivotably connecting the hollow support of the handlebar assembly to the deck, the pivot assembly comprising:
- a collar inside the hollow support, the collar comprising a threaded channel;
- and
- a threaded rod comprising first end having a knob and a second end having a foot, the threaded rod threadably engaged with and extending through the threaded channel, the threaded rod rotatable relative to the hollow support and slidable in the elongate front and rear slots.
A method of unfolding a scooter, the scooter having a handlebar assembly and a deck, the deck having a front end with a bracket and a rear end with a rear wheel, the bracket having a first slot, a second slot, a rail between the first and second slots, and a brace, the handlebar assembly having a front wheel, a head tube, handgrips, and a support, the support having a hollow tube, a pin, a slot, a threaded rod, and a threaded collar threadably engaged with the threaded rod, the threaded rod having a first end with a knob and a second end with a foot, the method comprising:
- sliding the knob in the slot in a direction away from the bracket;
- moving the pin out of the first slot in the bracket;
- pivoting the handlebar assembly relative to the deck;
- sliding the pin along the rail of the bracket;
- moving the pin into the second slot in the bracket;
- sliding the knob in a direction toward the bracket;
- turning the knob relative to the threaded collar;
- advancing the threaded rod relative to the threaded collar;
- pressing the foot against the brace;
- and
- fixedly connecting the support and the deck such that rattling is inhibited.
