Abstract
In various examples, a connector for an implantable medical device is configured to accept a lead therein and electrically couple to a lead contact of the lead. The connector includes a connector housing, which includes a bore portion including a bore hole therethrough. The bore hole includes a bore hole axis, the bore hole being sized and shaped to accept the lead within the bore hole. An attachment portion is coupled to the bore portion. The attachment portion includes an attachment hole within the attachment portion sized and shaped to accept a feedthrough wire within the attachment hole. The attachment hole includes an attachment hole axis offset from and non-parallel to the bore hole axis.

(canceled)
A method for attaching a connector housing to an implantable medical device, the implantable medical device including a feedthrough wire extending outwardly from a housing, the method comprising:
- providing the connector housing, the connector housing including:
- a bore portion including a bore hole therethrough, the bore hole including a bore hole axis, the bore hole being sized and shaped to accept the lead within the bore hole;
- and
- an attachment portion coupled to the bore portion, wherein the attachment portion and the bore portion are unitary, the attachment portion including an attachment hole within the attachment portion sized and shaped to accept the feedthrough wire within the attachment hole, the attachment hole including an attachment hole axis offset from and non-parallel to the bore hole axis;
- placing the connector housing on the feedthrough wire extending from the housing of the implantable medical device, such that the feedthrough wire is disposed within the attachment hole of the attachment portion of the connector housing;
- and
- welding the feedthrough wire to the attachment portion of the connector housing.
A method for assembling a stack assembly within an implantable medical device, the stack assembly configured to accept a lead therein and electrically couple to at least two lead contacts of the lead, the implantable medical device including at least two feedthrough wires extending outwardly from a housing, the method comprising:
- providing at least two connector housings including a first connector housing and a second connector housing, each of the at least two connector housings including:
- a bore portion including a bore hole therethrough, the bore hole including a bore hole axis, the bore hole being sized and shaped to accept the lead within the bore hole;
- and
- an attachment portion coupled to the bore portion, wherein the attachment portion and the bore portion are unitary, the attachment portion including an attachment hole within the attachment portion sized and shaped to accept one of the at least two feedthrough wires within the attachment hole, the attachment hole including an attachment hole axis offset from and non-parallel to the bore hole axis;
- placing the at least two connector housings on respective ones of the at least two feedthrough wires extending from the housing of the implantable medical device, such that one of the at least two feedthrough wires is disposed within a respective one of the attachment holes of the attachment portions of the at least two connector housings, the at least two connector housings being aligned with one another such that the bore hole axes of the at least two connector housings are colinear;
- placing a seal between the first connector housing and the second connector housing, the seal configured to sealingly engage with the lead with the lead disposed within the bore holes of the first connector housing and the second connector housing;
- and
- welding each of the feedthrough wires to respective ones of the attachment portions of the at least two connector housings.
A method for assembling a stack assembly within an implantable medical device, the stack assembly configured to accept a lead therein and electrically couple to a plurality of lead contacts of the lead, the implantable medical device including a plurality of feedthrough wires extending outwardly from a housing, the method comprising:
- providing a plurality of connector housings corresponding to the plurality of lead contacts of the lead, each of the plurality of connector housings including:
- a bore portion including a bore hole therethrough, the bore hole including a bore hole axis, the bore hole being sized and shaped to accept the lead within the bore hole;
- and
- an attachment portion coupled to the bore portion, wherein the attachment portion and the bore portion are unitary, the attachment portion including an attachment hole within the attachment portion sized and shaped to accept one of the plurality of feedthrough wires within the attachment hole, the attachment hole including an attachment hole axis offset from and non-parallel to the bore hole axis;
- placing the plurality of connector housings on respective ones of the plurality of feedthrough wires extending from the housing of the implantable medical device, such that one of the plurality of feedthrough wires is disposed within a respective one of the attachment holes of the attachment portions of the plurality of connector housings, the plurality of connector housings being aligned with one another such that the bore hole axes of the plurality of connector housings are colinear;
- placing a plurality of seals between the plurality of connector housings such that one seal of the plurality of seals is disposed between each of adjacent connector housings of the plurality of connector housings, each of the plurality of seals being configured to sealingly engage with the lead with the lead disposed within the bore holes of the plurality of connector housings;
- placing a plurality of springs within the bore holes of the plurality of connector housings such that one spring is disposed within the bore portion of a respective one of the plurality of connection housings, the springs configured to electrically couple to respective ones of the plurality of lead contacts of the lead with the lead disposed within each of the bore holes;
- and
- welding each of the plurality of feedthrough wires to respective ones of the attachment portions of the plurality of connector housings.
