Abstract
There is provided a humidifier for a respiratory therapy system that includes a humidification chamber having an inner wall spaced from an outer wall to forma wall cavity between the inner and outer walls. A gas flow path is located within the wall cavity. Gas, such as air, flows along the gas flow path from an inlet to the humidification chamber to an outlet of the humidification chamber. Optionally, the gas flow path may follow a helical route through the wall cavity.

(canceled)
A humidification chamber for a respiratory therapy system, the humidification chamber being configured to hold a fluid in a fluid reservoir, and the humidification chamber comprising:
- a base, a top wall and one or more outer side walls extending between the base and the top wall;
- an inner side wall being spaced at a distance from the one or more outer side walls to form a wall cavity, the inner side wall at least partially defining the fluid reservoir;
- at least one inlet adapted to receive breathing gas;
- an outlet adapted to deliver humidified breathing gas;
- a heating element adapted to provide heat to the fluid in the fluid reservoir,
- a gas flow path extending between the at least one inlet and the outlet;
- and
- the wall cavity defining at least a portion of the gas flow path, wherein the gas flow path is arranged such that the breathing gas is directed past the heating element.
