Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods are provided. In one example, a system is described that includes circuits to maintain a respective counter value for each of a plurality of virtual lanes, each counter value indicating a number of credits of a shared pool of credits used by a virtual lane associated with the counter value, compare a counter value associated with a first virtual lane of the plurality of virtual lanes with one or more other counter values associated with the plurality of counter values, and in response to comparing the counter value associated with the first virtual lane with the one or more other counter values, forward a packet associated with the first virtual lane to an egress buffer.
Claims20
A computing device comprising one or more circuits to:
- maintain a respective counter value for each of a plurality of virtual lanes, wherein each counter value indicates a number of credits of a shared pool of credits used by a virtual lane associated with the counter value;
- compare a counter value associated with a first virtual lane of the plurality of virtual lanes with one or more other counter values associated with the plurality of counter values;
- and
- in response to comparing the counter value associated with the first virtual lane with the one or more other counter values, forward a packet associated with the first virtual lane to an egress buffer.
A switch comprising:
- a plurality of communication ports;
- and
- a control circuit controlling operation of the communication switch, wherein the control circuit causes the communication switch to:
- maintain a respective counter value for each of a plurality of virtual lanes, wherein each counter value indicates a number of credits of a shared pool of credits used by a virtual lane associated with the counter value;
- compare a counter value associated with a first virtual lane of the plurality of virtual lanes with one or more other counter values associated with the plurality of counter values;
- and
- in response to comparing the counter value associated with the first virtual lane with the one or more other counter values, forward a packet associated with the first virtual lane to an egress buffer.
A method, comprising:
- maintaining a respective counter value for each of a plurality of virtual lanes, wherein each counter value indicates a number of credits of a shared pool of credits used by a virtual lane associated with the counter value;
- comparing a counter value associated with a first virtual lane of the plurality of virtual lanes with one or more other counter values associated with the plurality of counter values;
- and
- in response to comparing the counter value associated with the first virtual lane with the one or more other counter values, forwarding a packet associated with the first virtual lane to an egress buffer.
