Abstract
Assessing a wound by capturing, via a mobile device proximate the person (or animal) suffering from the wound, still and/or moving imagery of the wound as well as voice dictation/annotation, processing the captured imagery and annotations at a remote processing engine to automatically create a respective three-dimensional (3D) model of the wound, determine wound measurements using vertices and edges defined by the 3D model, determine wound characteristics using the wound measurements, and determine wound classification using the wound characteristics and audio annotation. Whereupon a classification-specific wound care treatment may be retrieved from a wound care knowledge base and transmitted to the mobile device.
Claims12
A method of wound assessment and care, comprising:
- at a mobile device, capturing wound related imagery and respective audio annotation, and transmitting the wound related imagery and respective audio annotation towards a remote processing engine;
- at the remote processing engine:
- processing received wound related imagery to create a respective three-dimensional (3D) model of the wound;
- determining wound measurements using vertices and edges defined by the 3D model of the wound;
- determining wound characteristics using the wound measurements;
- determining wound classification using the wound characteristics and audio annotation;
- retrieving a wound care treatment for the wound classification from a knowledge base;
- and
- transmitting the wound care treatment toward the mobile device.
A mobile device comprising a memory and a processor, the memory for storing instructions which, when executed by a processor, configure the mobile device to perform a method of capturing wound related information, the method comprising:
- capturing wound related imagery and respective audio annotation;
- and
- transmitting the wound related imagery and respective audio annotation towards a remote processing engine, the wound related imagery and respective audio annotation configured to cause the remote processing engine to responsively generate therefrom a respective three-dimensional (3D) model of the wound, determine wound measurements using vertices and edges defined by the 3D model of the wound, determine wound characteristics using the wound measurements, determine wound classification using the wound characteristics and audio annotation, retrieve a wound care treatment for the wound classification from a knowledge base;
- and transmit the wound care treatment toward the mobile device.
A cloud-based processing system comprising memory and compute resources configured to perform a method, comprising:
- receiving, from a mobile device, wound related imagery and respective audio annotation;
- processing the received wound related imagery to create a respective three-dimensional (3D) model of the wound;
- determining wound measurements using vertices and edges defined by the 3D model of the wound;
- determining wound characteristics using the wound measurements;
- determining wound classification using the wound characteristics and audio annotation;
- retrieving a wound care treatment for the wound classification from a knowledge base;
- and
- transmitting the wound care treatment toward the mobile device.
