Abstract
A process for producing an alloy powder includes reacting a scandium source with an aluminum metal or with an aluminum salt in the presence of a reducing agent to give AlxScy, where 0.1≤y≤0.9 and x=1−y. The alloy powder has a purity of 99% by weight or more, based on metallic impurities, and an oxygen content of less than 0.7% by weight, based on a total weight of the alloy powder, as determined by a carrier gas hot extraction.
Claims11
A process for producing an alloy powder comprising:
- a composition AlxScy, where 0.1≤y≤0.9 and x=1−y;
- a purity of 99% by weight or more, based on metallic impurities;
- and
- an oxygen content of less than 0.7% by weight, based on a total weight of the alloy powder, as determined by a carrier gas hot extraction,
- the process comprising:
- reacting a scandium source with an aluminum metal or with an aluminum salt in the presence of a reducing agent to give AlxScy, where 0.1≤y≤0.9 and x=1−y.
A method of using an alloy powder in an electronic component in an electronics industry, the method comprising:
- providing an alloy powder comprising:
- a composition AlxScy, where 0.1≤y≤0.9 and x=1−y;
- a purity of 99% by weight or more, based on metallic impurities;
- and
- an oxygen content of less than 0.7% by weight, based on a total weight of the alloy powder, as determined by a carrier gas hot extraction;
- and
- using the alloy powder in an electronic component.
