Abstract
A bioreactor vessel is provided for performing cell cultivation. The vessel has a stirrer within the vessel for stirring, in use, a cell culture solution contained therewithin, and is configured for performance of closed-loop control of cell cultivation process parameters. The vessel has a reserved culture volume (Vrc) for the cell culture solution and a reserved headspace volume (Vrh) for gas above the reserved culture volume, Vrc+Vrh being equal to the total volume (Vtot) of the vessel, Vrc being less than 15 mL, and the ratio Vrh/Vrc being in the range from 0.5 to 3.
