Abstract
Corrosion inhibitor compositions that include silica nanoparticles. The silica nanoparticles can be functionalized with an organosilane. A method includes introducing, adding, or injecting the corrosion inhibitor composition into a fluid to inhibit corrosion on a metal surface that is in contact with the fluid.
Claims20
A method of inhibiting corrosion at a metal surface, the method comprising:
- contacting a fluid comprising a corrosion inhibitor composition with a metal surface,
- wherein the corrosion inhibitor composition comprises silica nanoparticles, an imidazoline derivative, an oligomeric fatty acid, a nonionic surfactant, a sulfonic acid, and a solvent.
A corrosion inhibitor composition comprising:
- silica nanoparticles;
- an imidazoline derivative;
- a nonionic surfactant;
- an oligomeric fatty acid;
- a sulfonic acid;
- and
- a solvent,
- wherein the silica nanoparticles are present in an amount of from about 0.1 wt % to about 1 wt % based on a total weight of the corrosion inhibitor composition.
