Abstract
The present invention is directed to a coating composition comprising a film-forming binder; and a corrosion inhibitor comprising at least one of morpholines, monosulfides, and/or piperazines. The present invention is also directed to coatings, coated metal substrates, multi-layered coated metal substrates, and methods of coating substrates.
Claims20
A coating composition comprising:
- (i) a film-forming binder comprising (a) an organic resin component and (b) a curing agent component;
- and
- (ii) a corrosion inhibitor comprising a piperazine compound;
- wherein the corrosion inhibitor (ii) is substantially free of functional groups that react with the organic resin component (a) and the curing agent component (b).
An electrodepositable coating composition comprising:
- (i) a film-forming binder comprising:
- (a) an organic resin component comprising an anionic salt group-containing, film-forming polymer comprising a phosphatized polyepoxide polymer or a phosphatized acrylic polymer;
- and
- (b) a curing agent component comprising an at least partially blocked polyisocyanate;
- and
- (ii) a corrosion inhibitor comprising a piperazine compound;
- wherein the corrosion inhibitor (ii) is substantially free of functional groups that react with the organic resin component (a) and the curing agent component (b).
