Abstract
A method for producing tafamidis or a salt thereof that includes cyclizing a compound of formula (1) below in the presence of a copper catalyst selected from the group consisting of a copper halide, a copper carboxylate, a copper sulfate, and a copper oxide, a base, and an amine ligand to obtain a compound of the formula (2) below, where R1 represents a linear or branched alkyl group, and X represents a halogen atom, and where R1 represents a linear or branched alkyl group.

A method for producing tafamidis or a salt thereof, the method comprising:
- cyclizing a compound of formula (1) in the presence of
- a copper catalyst which is at least one selected from the group consisting of a copper halide, a copper carboxylate, a copper sulfate, and a copper oxide,
- a base, and
- an amine ligand to obtain a compound of formula (2),
- where R1 represents a linear or branched alkyl group, and
- X represents a halogen atom;
- and
- where R1 represents a linear or branched alkyl group.
