Abstract
In one aspect, the disclosure relates to medical devices, such as a stent retriever, stint, catheter, comprising coatings. A coating can comprise a fibrin-based material. The fibrin-based material within a coating on a medical device can form covalent bonds with fibrin present in a thrombus for the purposes of a thrombus extraction.
Claims20
A medical device, comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a coating on a surface the substrate, the coating comprising a fibrin-based material, wherein the medical device is a stent, a stent retriever, a catheter, a metal wire, or a medical plastic tube.
A method for forming a coating on a substrate, comprising:
- modifying a substrate via plasma polymerization;
- exposing the substrate to a fibrinogen solution;
- and
- forming a coating on a surface of the substrate, wherein the coating comprises a fibrin-based material.
