Abstract
The present invention provides a composition comprising: —at least one gel-forming hydrophobic carbohydrate ester or an analogue thereof based on mono-, di-, and tri-saccharides, or mixtures thereof; —at least one polymer; and —at least one solvent being mixable with water; wherein the composition is a ECell being a hydrophobic gel-depot having the ability to take up water by means of said at least one solvent being mixable with water and having the ability to self-expand by formation of water pores, channels, and/or cavities.
Claims21
A composition comprising:
- at least one gel-forming hydrophobic carbohydrate ester being sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB), sucrose octapropionate (SOP), sucrose octaisobutyrate (SOIB), sucrose octabenzoate (SuBen), lactose octapropionate (LOP), lactose Octaisobutyrate (LOIB), methyl hepta-O-isobutyryl-α,β-lactoside (MeLOIB), trehalose octapropionate (TOP), or trehalose octaisobutyrate (TOIB), or an analogue thereof, or a combination thereof;
- at least one polymer which is polyethyleneimine (PEI), Ethyl Cellulose (EC), Cyanoethyl cellulose, Cellulose acetate propionate (CAP), Cellulose acetate phthalate (CaPh), Cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), Cellulose propionate (CP), Cellulose butyrate (CB), Cellulose acetate propionate (CAP), 2-Hydroxyethyl cellulose, Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, (Hydroxypropyl)methyl cellulose, and Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose), or a combination thereof;
- and
- at least one solvent being mixable with water, which solvent is Ethanol (EtOH), Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), Dimethyl formamide (DMF), N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP), Propylene carbonate (PC), Benzyl alcohol (BnOH) or Butyl acetate (BuAc), or a combination thereof;
- wherein the composition is a ECell being a hydrophobic gel-depot having the ability to take up water by means of said at least one solvent being mixable with water and having the ability to self-expand by formation of water pores, channels, and/or cavities.
