An absorbent structure includes an absorbent core having at least two non-through channels with an embossed bottom.

A method for production of an absorbent structure, comprising:
- forming an absorbent core including a mixture of cellulose fibers and granular superabsorbent polymer,
- wherein the absorbent core has at least two non-through channels with an elongated shape each having a bottom surface, two side surfaces and an edge open on a first surface of the absorbent core,
- wherein the absorbent core has a layer of absorbent material arranged between the bottom surface of each channel and a second surface of the absorbent core;
- and
- compressing said layer of absorbent material arranged between the bottom surface of each channel and the second surface of the absorbent core by an embossing pattern.

An absorbent structure, comprising:
- an absorbent core formed from a mixture of cellulose fibers and granular superabsorbent polymer, the absorbent core including:
- a first surface and a second surface, and
- at least two non-through channels with an elongated shape each having a bottom surface, two side surfaces and an edge open on the first surface, and
- a layer of absorbent material compressed by an embossing pattern arranged between the bottom surface of each channel and the second surface of the absorbent core.
