Abstract
An intravascular device and methods of using the same are provided. An expandable portion includes struts movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position, and tissue modification element(s), each having a lower portion residing within or attached to one of the struts, an upper portion which extends outwardly from an outer surface of the strut and physically interacts with tissue during use. Irrigation and/or suction device(s) are provided for providing at least one of irrigation fluid and suction force at the expandable portion when operated.
Claims20
An intravascular device comprising:
- an expandable portion comprising:
- a plurality of struts, each movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position;
- and
- one or more tissue modification elements, each comprising a lower portion residing within or attached to a respective one of said struts, and an upper portion which extends outwardly the respective one of said struts for physically interacting with tissue;
- and
- one or more irrigation and/or suction devices for providing at least one of irrigation fluid and suction force at said expandable portion.
A method for using an intravascular device, said method comprising:
- introducing the intravascular device to a blood vessel of a patient, said intravascular device comprising a catheter tube, an expandable portion connected to said catheter tube, and one or more tissue modification elements at said expandable portion;
- navigating said expandable portion to a treatment area within the blood vessel;
- placing said expandable portion in an expanded position such that said one or more tissue modification elements contact tissue located within the blood vessel;
- retracting said expandable portion along the blood vessel to modify the tissue;
- and
- providing at least one of irrigation and suction at said expandable portion during at least a portion of the retracting step.
An intravascular device comprising:
- a handle subassembly;
- a catheter tube extending from said handle subassembly;
- an expandable portion connected to said catheter tube and comprising:
- a plurality of struts movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position;
- and
- one or more tissue modification elements, each comprising a lower portion residing within or attached to a respective one of said struts, and an upper portion for physically interacting with tissue, wherein said upper portion extends outwardly from an outer surface of the respective one of said struts;
- and
- one or more irrigation and/or suction devices for providing at least one of irrigation fluid and suction force at said expandable portion when operated, said one or more irrigation and/or suction devices comprising:
- equipment for providing said irrigation fluid and/or suction force;
- and
- at least one of:
- one or more hypotubes provided at interior surfaces of one or more of said struts;
- and
- one or more ports provided at a portion of an inner sleeve extending within said expandable portion;
- wherein said at least one of said one or more hypotubes and said one or more ports are fluidly connected to said equipment, said equipment comprising at least one pump or reservoir for the irrigation fluid.
