Abstract
A holder for assisting in transferring fishing line held on a spool to a reel supported by a fishing rod, the holder comprising: a support shaft for supporting the spool so that the spool and the support shaft are jointly axially rotatable; and a brake operatively coupled to the support shaft for applying a rotational drag to the support shaft when the support shaft is rotated; wherein the brake includes a disk jointly rotatable with the support shaft and an engagement member operatively coupled to the disk to resist rotation of the disk.

A holder for assisting in transferring fishing line held on a spool to a reel supported by a fishing rod, the holder comprising:
- a support shaft for supporting the spool so that the spool and the support shaft are jointly axially rotatable;
- and
- a brake operatively coupled to the support shaft for applying a rotational drag to the support shaft when the support shaft is rotated;
- wherein the brake includes a disk jointly rotatable with the support shaft and an engagement member operatively coupled to the disk to resist rotation of the disk.
